Railo 3.1 Beta
March 31st, 2009
As I write this the ColdFusion (or possibly more accurately the CFML) community eagerly awaits the release of Railo 3.1 beta at noon EST 31st M arch. Last Summer Gert announced on the Railo blog that Railo 3.1. would be going open source as part of the JBoss community.
Hosted at JBoss.org, as a JBoss project Railo will be supported by a much larger community than can be provided purely by the CFML community. This will give Railo a very well deserved boost. I am continually surprised by how few savvy CF people who are not aware of the importance of this.
There are now a few good CFML engines available for developers who want to develop with CFML:
- New Atlanta’s BlueDragon
- Adobe’s ColdFusion 8 (and soon 9).
- OpenBD
- Railo Open Source
- Railo Enteprise
- Smith
It will be interesting to see how Adobe respond to this development with the release of ColdFusion 9.
